July 5, 2010It’s fun being a girl isn’t it? So happy I had the opportunity to shoot my first pin up party in Portland this past weekend. Hosted by the vivacious Miss M, we packed into a lovely little room at the fabulous Hotel Vintage, and had a ball.
Girls, you owned it and you ROCK!

June 24, 2010Dear Dad, Happy Father’s Day
June 20, 2010Dear Dad,
I spent the day with you today, and forgot to thank you for spending Father’s Day with me. Which made me think of all the things I probably forget to thank you for, and all the things I should have thanked you for along the way. So here goes.
Thank you Dad for teaching me to check my oil, and asking me 356,578 over the past ten years whether or not I checked the oil in my car lately. Thank you for explaining how to change my oil without making me actually do it, you know me well enough to know I have limits. Thank you for teaching me how to shoot a gun, ride a horse, skip a rock, drive a stick shift, and probably swim, although I can’t remember learning, my best guess is you threw me in the river with water wings… sink or swim kiddo.
Thank you for letting me sleep in during summer breaks, teaching me what hard work was, and attempting to teach me how to hunt… although god knows you realized quickly that getting up at the you know what of dawn, focusing on the task at hand (aka finding deer) and walking quietly through the woods, did not come naturally to me.
Thank you Dad for silently retrieving a wet towel the first time you thought I was wearing too much makeup, lesson learned, nobody likes a hussy. Thank you for inspiring me to be healthy, to be active and for not commenting on my baby fat when I was going through my super awkward teenage years. Thanks for my baby brother, I don’t think either of us would have survived another girl.
Thank you for pushing my buttons on purpose, nobody can get me madder faster than you do, but it taught me early to draw a clear line in the sand with people, or they will draw it for you.
Thank you Dad for never asking me about boys, or bringing up my broken heart when I sometimes so obviously wear it on my sleeve. I know you think I’m too sensitive, you’ve told me this many times, but there never been a time I’ve appreciated your knack for companionable silence more.
Love you Dad
Karlie + Danny: San Diego Wedding Photographer
June 5, 2010Sometimes you wake up and know it is going to be the perfect day. Karlie and Danny’s wedding day, was just one of those days. Despite the impending rain, the excitement and love spilling out of family, friends and wedding party was palpable. Prior to the ceremony, bustling hair and makeup people made up the gorgeous bridesmaids in a flurry of fabulous makeup and to die for hair. The bride Karlie, casually took in the hustle and bustle with a mimosa in one perfectly manicured hand, and her laptop in the other. Danny and his groomsmen hit the hot tub early and lounged around the groom’s suite until it was time to iron ties, and put on their tuxes. To this wedding party, it was all about the experience, spending time together, enjoying laughing, constant teasing and good natured banter.
The epitome of balance, Karlie is the endlessly confident, sharp as a tack, drop dead gorgeous girl; and Danny the laid back, logical, off the cuff humor guy. As the afternoon progressed, and the ceremony grew closer and closer, I starting seeing the tiny signs of excited nervousness and overwhelming emotions that often times hit a bride at a moments notice. As planned, Karlie and Danny met for their first look overlooking the beautiful San Diego Bay, about an hour before the ceremony. As Danny turned around to get a look at his bride, huge smiles broke out on both their faces. Danny, in his ever perfect timing asked, “am I allowed to touch you?”. Karlie burst into her signature larger than life, always contagious laugh; and any nervousness or fear that had been showing on her face, immediately disappeared.
The day was here, they were surrounded by people that loved them to pieces, life was good. Everything was… perfect.
A very special thanks to Jenna Marie Photo for being my other eyes, and lens on this one, she is an incredible photographer, so be sure to check out more of her work on her blog!
Little C: Roseburg, OR Family Photographer
June 4, 2010Had the pleasure of sneaking a few shots of this cutie pie this weekend during our Memorial Day bbq. Little C could not be cuter with those lovely blond curls, springy yellow outfit and determined frown of concentration. My how my life has come full circle, oddly enough her father and I were playmates as itty bitty kiddos… about her age. Don’t worry Robin, I won’t blog about the time our siblings married us and you refused to eskimo smooch me… darn, look at that, I just did, didn’t I?! Ooops
Love that I got to shoot with this family last weekend. I did little Colton’s first photos when he was still in mommy’s tummy… my has he grown. We had a great time wandering around Lithia Park in beautiful Ashland, and were lucky to catch a really beautiful sunny spring day (it didn’t even rain, not even once).
Baby Layla: Medford, OR Newborn Photographer
May 20, 2010So sweet and such a fighter, baby Layla is the product of two very loving, spunky parents (why do I hear Mommy Meagan pfft when I type that). Can’t wait to shoot this little lady again when she gets her baby fat!
